Beginning my entrepreneurial journey
“THE JOURNEY IS THE REWARD.” — CHINESE PROVERB

I received a B.S. in Textile Chemistry in 1973, but there's a little story behind that as I am NOT a textile chemist. When I was in high school, my guidance counselor suggested that I apply for a scholarship at this college. On the application, there were a handful of majors to choose from. Since I was taking chemistry at the time, I chose Textile Chemistry. This turned out to be an unhappy choice.

Fortunately, there was one (and only one) elective in the last term of my senior year. I chose Accounting 101, and it turned out to not only be one of my favorite college classes, but also paved the way for my business career. After graduation, I went on to take other business classes that I enjoyed very much.

Most of my work experience is in the business world, and my professional skills are well suited to that environment. As for life experience, I encourage everyone to volunteer because it is a great way to get hands-on experience with activities and projects that really interest you. I learned many of the tricks of my trade through extensive volunteer work in addition to my paid work, and that range of experience is what makes me a unique asset to my customers.
